Barbara Baumann (*1951) and Gerd Baumann (*1950) studied visual design at the Schwäbisch Gmünd College of Design and in 1978 they founded Baumann & Baumann in Schwäbisch Gmünd. Since then they have been developing comprehensive arrangement, communication and corporate design concepts, including work on the German Bundestag in Bonn, the Great Court of the British Museum, London, as well as working for international firms such as DaimlerChrysler, Siemens, WMF, etc. They are visiting professors at the Schwäbisch Gmünd College of Design, the Bremen University of the Arts and, since 2001, annually at Musashino Art University in Tokyo.

Sie gehören zu einem der renomiertesten deutschen Gestaltungsbüros. Gerd und Barbara Baumann haben es erreicht, Sachlichkeit, Funktionalität, präzise Formulierungen in möglichst knapper Form darzustellen. Sie benutzen in Ihren Entwürfen eine eigene Farbigkeit und einen hintergründigen Humor. Sie sind Autoren zahlreicher Publikationen wie “Lechts, rinks”, “Spiel Räume” oder “Wortbilder”. Ihre Arbeiten wurden mit einer grossen Anzahl internationaler Design-Preise ausgezeichnet. Baumann & Baumann entwickeln umfassende Gestaltungs-, Kommunikations- und Corporate Design-Konzepte, unter anderem für den Deutschen Bundestag Bonn, für den Great Court des British Museum London, für internationale Unternehmen wie DaimlerChrysler, Siemens, WMF etc. Beide sind Gastprofessoren an der HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd, HfK Bremen und seit 2001 jährlich an der Musashino Art University in Tokio.
