EN | Henk van Assen
(*1961) has graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague in 1988. After 3 years as an independent graphic designer in Amsterdam and several projects in print and multimediadesign, he emigrated to the United States where in 1993 he received his Master of Fine Arts in graphic design from Yale University. He taught design at several universities in the USA and abroad – most recently Canada, China and Mexico. Since 1999 he teaches Communicationdesign at Yale University. He was awarded with several book design awards such as the AIGA 50 Best Books award or the New York Book Show award. Together with Daniel M. Olsen he coauthored »Ranch Gates of the Southwest« and is author of several other publications. Henk van Assen is also the founding principal and creative director of HvAD, a design studio in New York City.

Ha lavorato per 3 anni come grafico indipendente ad Amsterdam pubblicando numerosi progetti editoriali e multimediali. In seguito si è spostato negli USA dove nel 1993 ha frequentato il Master of Fine Arts all’Università di Yale. È stato docente di design presso altre sedi universitarie americane ed estere, in Canada, Cina, Messico. Dal 1999 è docente di design della comunicazione all’università di Yale. Henk van Assen ha ricevuto tanti onorificenze per i suoi lavori editoriali come il premio AIGA 50 Best Books Award e il New York Book Show Award. È stato, insieme con Daniel M. Olsen, il co-autore del libro »Ranch Gates of the Southwest« ed è anche autore di numerose publicazioni. Nach 3 Jahren als freier Grafikdesigner in Amsterdam und vielen Projekten in Print und Mediengestaltung, ging er 1993 in die USA wo er seinen Master of Fine Arts in Grafikdesign an der Yale University gemacht hat. Er unterrichtete Design an verschiedenen Universitäten in den USA und im Ausland, wie Kanada, China und Mexiko. Seit 1999 lehrt er an der Yale University Kommunikationsdesign. Henk van Assen wurde mit mehrere Buch-Designpreisen ausgezeichnet, wie dem AIGA 50 Best Books Award oder dem New York Book Show award. Er war, zusammen mit Daniel M. Olsen, Co-Autor des Buches »Ranch Gates of the Southwest« und ist Autor zahlreicher Publikationen. Henk van Assen ist außerdem Gründer und Creatice Director von HvAC, einem Designstudio in New York.
