If you don’t know Latouche and get a taste:

What is degrowth?By „degrowth“ we understand a downscaling of production and consumption in the industrialized states that increases human well-being and enhances ecological conditions and equity on the planet.” read on in “What does “degrowth” mean to us?“. This fits well to our upcoming Master in Eco-Social Design, which is not only about more eco-efficient products and services, but is striving for more social good and good life with less material goods. More about the Master.

The lecture and discussion will be in Italian language. It is organized and moderated by Prof. Susanne Elsen.

Tuesday the 1st of April there will be a new By Design or By Disaster Talk.
We will have the chance to talk about facilitation, design and creative co-design with Marianella Sclavi, who studies and teaches Listening as a Craft and Conflicts’ Creative Management.
She will talk about these topics from her experiences, on one hand, as coordinator of many co-design projects developed in collaboration with many Italian municipalities, on the other as an ethnographer. It will be, then, the occasion to see how a knowledge coming from social sciences and a knowledge coming from design can work together to promote participation.

Marianella Sclavi, “E’ come fare la piadina”

I found Baumann’s book Liquid Modernity enlightening for its precise and critical observations of contemporary globalized and industrialized society. Not exactly positive. Therefore, i am very curious to hear about the idea how beauty can save the world. Sounds as if there was hope ;)

I do not know much about Agnes Heller, but let’s see …
